Certifications

Guaranteed to remove 99.9% of dissolved solids and harmful contaminants, Culligan with ZeroWater Technology provides superior filtration with its 5-stage advanced water filtration technology. Our tried-and-true ZeroWater legacy collection is certified to reduce chlorine, lead, chromium 6, PFOA/PFOS. As for Culligan with ZeroWater Technology—our newest innovation—expect a system that is certified to filter the previously mentioned contaminants, as well as total PFAS, pharmaceuticals, and pesticides for next-level filtration.

FAQs

Our filters use coal-based activated carbon mixed with KDF (a copper-zinc blend) and a mixed bed of ion exchange resin in a BPA-free housing. Together, they work to reduce a wide range of contaminants, so all you taste is cleaner, better water.

Culligan with ZeroWater Technology filters are certified to reduce over 25 contaminants, including forever chemicals (total PFAS), pharmaceuticals, and heavy metals. For the full list of what we reduce, see our performance results here.

Culligan with ZeroWater Technology reduces virtually all total dissolved solids (TDS) from your water, giving you a level of filtration comparable to reverse osmosis or distillation, but with none of the hassle.

ZeroWater Technology versus distilled water
Distillation boils water and collects the steam, leaving most dissolved solids behind, but the process takes hours and requires electricity. Culligan ZeroWater filters use deionization to reduce virtually all TDS in minutes, using just gravity. The result is similar purity, but with a fresher, more refreshing taste. No flat, boiled flavor here.

ZeroWater Technology versus reverse osmosis (RO)
Like Culligan with ZeroWater Technology filters, RO systems produce highly purified water, but they can be expensive and require installation. Culligan with ZeroWater Technology gives you similar results without the waste, hassle, or plumbing.

All Culligan with ZeroWater Technology products are made from BPA-free materials. Our filters are housed in BPA-free polystyrene. Our pitchers and dispensers are made with BPA-free polypropylene and ABS plastic.

No. Our new filters were redesigned for simpler, top-down installation. They no longer twist in from the bottom like legacy ZeroWater filters. This change makes filter replacement easier and cleaner, but it does mean the new filters aren’t compatible with older devices.

Yes. Our 5-stage filter contains activated carbon derived from coconut shell. This environmentally friendly material serves as an effective and non-leaching agent in our filtration process, ensuring superior water filtration results compared to other alternatives.

Your filter’s lifespan will vary based on the TDS level of the water you’re filtering. Below is a breakdown of TDS ranges and their projected filter lifespan.

0-1
Meets FDA standards for TDS levels in purified bottled water. No known municipalities.
Expected filter duration: N/A

2-50
Naturally occurring in only a few cities, can still have dangerous impurities such as lead.
Expected filter duration: 40 gallons or more

51-200
TDS Levels within typical range. Most water in the USA falls into this grouping.
Expected filter duration: 25-40 gallons

201-300
High TDS level. Expect slightly lower capacity.
Expected filter duration: 15-25 gallons

301-400
High TDS level. Expect slightly lower capacity.
Expected filter duration: 8-15 gallons

400+
The highest TDS water. Expect lower capacity when reducing your water to 000.
Expected filter duration: 8
gallons or less

TDS

A TDS meter is an electronic device that measures the level of total dissolved solids (TDS) in your water, in parts per million (ppm). TDS can refer to all organic and inorganic materials, such as metals, minerals, salts and ions dissolved in your water. TDS can affect the taste and appearance of water.

Our integrated electronic meter gives you instant confirmation that your filter is reducing dissolved solids and signals when a new filter is required. A reading of 0 means your filter is removing virtually all dissolved solids; once the orange light appears and the meter reads 6 or higher, it’s time to replace the filter.

The orange light is an indicator that your filter is nearing the end of its life. Specifically, it turns on when the meter detects a reading of 6 or higher, signaling that dissolved solids are no longer being effectively removed and it’s time to replace the filter.
